{track n field}

The 1st-4th graders had their events in May followed by the Kindergartner's day in early June.  It was perfect weather both days and so fun to watch.  For a week or so leading up to this the kids did prelims during Gym Class to determine who would be in each group in the finals.  They do the classic track events in addition to fun things like tug o war, shoe kick, long jump, fling sock and longest baseball throw.  They also go into the gym for obstacle course and rope swing events.  *Warning - Proud parent alert* Excuse me while I beam with pride over my kids! Unlike California Chrome, Cub is a Triple Crown winner and he took first in the 50 yd and 100 yd dash as well as the hurdles!  He was nervous leading up to it because he was in the fastest group and last year he lost out to another kid. This year he was the one to beat.

50 yd dash - He is in lane 1, green shirt.

The kindergartners did many of the same things but on a slightly smaller scale.  Cami was so excited to show me how fast she was at the hurdles!

First up - hurdles.

Next up - the fling sock.  This event was probably the most dangerous for the spectators as their were flying fling socks going in every direction!

After soccer kick and baseball throwing the final event was the tug o war!  The kids were so excited for it as they had been battling the other classes during gym class.  As you can see even the teachers got a kick out of it.

Track and field day ends just as every great kindergarten event should end, with a snack!
