{in memorium ~ Nola M Brayton}

Nola M Brayton
5/16/1920 - 12/26/2016

I was luckily enough to be blessed with 2 bonus Grandmas from Dan's family.  I like the term Bonus better than In-Law because it describes the effect she had on my life.

When I first met Dan he would refer to his Grandmas as my Nice Granny and my Mean Granny. (Just so you know, "Mean" is an affectionate term for the Weir family) I asked him which one was which and he just said, "Oh, you'll figure it out" with a look on his face.  That look is the same look I would see on Nola's face many times over the years.  It's amazing how alike they are. She helped raise Dan into the man, husband and father that he is today.  Her love spread over the family like a warm, hand made blanket. Just like the beautiful blankets she crocheted for grand babies over the years. Nola was able to keep tabs on everyone through Facebook and email.  She quickly learned to navigate Facebook despite her arthritic hands and you can bet the first person to "like" your recent update would be Nola.

I was blessed to have her in my life for 18 years.  She was a rock for her family and a prayer warrior like no other.  During my maternity leave with Cub, I would drop him off with her and go to the gym or run errands. She would rock him and feed him the whole time, I was so happy they were together.

Throughout the last few years we would occasionally have lunch dates and spend an hour or so talking. She would confide in me and I would confide in her.  It was just what I needed as we've had some family strife and pregnancy loss over last couple years.  When I didn't want to have faith she willed it to me, carried me on her prayer and help me up when I was down.

We will celebrate her life with love on 12/30/2016 at Bertas Funeral Home in Chaska. A life that she dedicated to serving and loving the Lord and her family so fiercely.
