{juicin'}

Red Winter Wheat, that is what is currently growing in my basement and let me tell you why.

Dan isn't a health freak but he is cautious about the foods he buys and what he feeds his family. Lately, I've heard musings about the benefits of juicing grass and that 1 ounce of wheat grass juice has the same nutrients as a pound of vegtables. He has been drawn to the gentle churn of the juicer, not just any juicer mind you the Z-Star grass juicer.  Last night it was the climatic end to the story!  He had prepped the seeds, tended to the grass for days while it grew.  When it's 8 inches tall he harvasted the grass and commenced the juicing process.  Don't quote me on this exactly but I remember hearing that you have to drink the juice within 30 mins of juicing or it's not as potent. I also remember hearing the warnings about it's flavor.  Granted neither one of us has tried it before but he heard that the flavor leaves something to be desired and we better have a chaser handy.

Without reading any directions, he set up the machine and cranked the handle until the juice poured out.  Well, more like a slow drip and a lot of cracking sounds but it worked!  He was the first to take a drink and reap the rewards.

Not giving away too much he poured a little more into 2 small glasses and shoved the rest to me and said " Here, drink it down quick!". I did and it was good!  The flavor was a mixture of the smell of grass and sweet peas. Definitely tolerable and no chaser was needed.  The kids came in, Cami took her's down like a champ while Cub was more reserved waiting to she if she was going to throw it all back up or not.  Ultimately, the juicing was a success and we'll keep you posted on the new super powers we get from it.
