{puppies 2012}

On March 17th, 2012 Morgan had her 2nd litter.  Early that morning Brian called Dan to let him know she was starting labor.  I wanted to be there so badly but of course it was the only busy day I had all week and I prayed she wouldn't start having them for quite a while. I had 3 closings plus a Dr. appointment at 3pm so there was no shot of leaving early. You never want to wish someone a long slow labor but I really wanted to be there!   Dan was lucky enough to leave work around 11am, picked up the kids and made their way out to the farm. At 11am I got a text, Brian saying she had a girl!! A few years ago her first little produced 7 pups with more boys than girls.  So maybe this first girl is a good sign!  Then at 12:36, the next text said, Boy.  OK, I was hoping they all stayed about an hour apart so I can see the last ones birth.  Dan and the kids arrived at the farm shortly after #2 and they kids were so excited.
Next update text from Dan at 2:36 Boy again.  She's really spacing these pups out but I'm happy knowing I should get there in time for more then the last one!!  After my day was done I raced out to Jordan and sat by her side for and hour or so, around 5:25 she had another Boy.  And after all the motherly work, clean up and bonding was done you could tell her demeanor had changed.  She was calm, not panting and her torso was slimmer.   Wow, only 4 pups: considering the deposits Brain already got and the fact that he wanted to keep one, their are not have enough pups to go around.  Especially since most wanted girls!

2 of the pups are big and 2 are small, the one on the far right and 3rd from right are the biggie's.
The little boy between the 2 big ones had a rough delivery, during the clean up Morgan accidentally bit off his tail. If you didn't already know, the birth process is messy and to gain all the nutrients for their milk the mother eats all the birth materials.  During that process they bite the umbilical cord and she didn't realize his tail was in the way during her clean up.  The point is moot since their tails get docked in a day or so but it was a first.

Relaxing with her pups, she's such a good mother.  She's so relaxed and great with the kids being involved.  It helps to have that bond with her she trusts the kids and doesn't act protective.  Cami and Cub are like 2nd mothers.  They were helping keep the pups warm during the other deliveries, helping them find the teats to eat and of course giving lots of hugs and cuddles.

*About a day later Brian called to inform us that she actually HAS 2 BOYS AND 2 GIRLS!  The kids announced the sex and no adult doubled checked until Brian noticed later.  Of course the 2 big ones are both girls!!
