{kitchen re-do}

When our landlords purchased the wood boiler they also purchased a new stove with double oven, microwave and fridge.  The existing appliances were from the 80's and only half worked.   Unfortunately, the new ones were all the wrong sizes and the custom cabinets will need to be altered to make them fit.   About a month ago we decided it was time to start hacking away and get the appliances off the front porch!  Let the demo begin!
Dan removed the cabinet above the fridge and the side board to make room for the new one.  After sanding and filler we will paint it.

The current stove was a built in and the space was so narrow we (I mostly mean Dan) had to shave back the counter tops very carefully.  Then remove the bottom frame as well, that's when we discovered the mouse super highway.  Honestly, we've only seen a couple mice but this tunnel area must have been used for a long time before we moved in.  You are lucky I didn't take a picture.

All the demo is done and cleaning begins, installed the new appliances and everything works!  One minor problem, the stove's HOT SURFACE light is always on and I still check to see if it's really hot or not.  We went without an ice maker for so many months, having one now fees like I won the lottery!  Also, I decided to embrace the chicken theme that existed in the kitchen and added a few more touches.  Thank you to Karen for a lovely chicken towel to hang on the oven.
